Philips Zoom teeth whitening is a popular dental procedure that utilizes advanced technology to whiten teeth by up to 8 shades in just one visit to the dentist. It is a safe and effective way to achieve a brighter, more youthful smile, and is suitable for most patients. The procedure involves the application of a professional-grade teeth whitening gel to the teeth, which is then activated by a special light. The gel works by breaking down stubborn stains and discoloration on the surface of the teeth, leaving them noticeably whiter and brighter. Philips Zoom teeth whitening is a relatively quick and painless procedure that typically takes around 60-90 minutes to complete. Patients may experience some sensitivity following the treatment, but this is usually temporary and can be managed with over-the-counter pain relievers. Overall, Philips Zoom teeth whitening is an excellent option for anyone looking to improve the appearance of their teeth quickly and easily. It is important to note that while the results are long-lasting, they are not permanent, and patients may need to return for touch-up treatments every 6-12 months to maintain their bright, white smile.

Zoom in-chair whitening procedure

During in-chair teeth whitening, which typically takes about 90 minutes, we utilize cutting-edge technology such as Philips Zoom! WhiteSpeed.

Our process for achieving optimal results with Zoom! teeth whitening involves three key steps:

  1. Initial Assessment: We begin with a brief checkup to determine if Zoom! teeth whitening is a safe and effective option for you. In most cases, it is.

  2. Gum Protection and Gel Application: Next, we safeguard your gums and apply the patented whitening gel to your teeth.

  3. LED Activation: Finally, we use the Zoom! WhiteSpeed blue LED lamp to activate the gel, resulting in the desired whitening effect. Depending on the individual, teeth can become up to 8 shades whiter, with stains and discoloration significantly reduced.

What results can I expect after in-chair whitening?

After in-chair teeth whitening, you can expect noticeable improvements in the color of your teeth. The procedure is highly effective at removing stains and discoloration caused by factors like coffee, tea, tobacco, and aging.  A single whitening treatment can generally brighten your smile up to 8 shades from your starting tooth color.

However, individual results may vary. It’s essential to follow post-treatment care instructions to maintain the whiteness and avoid staining.

How long do the results typically last?

The longevity of teeth whitening results varies, but typically they last several months to a few years. Factors like diet (avoiding staining foods and drinks), oral hygiene, and lifestyle choices play a role.

Is there any risk of sensitivity after whitening?

Yes, there is a potential risk of tooth sensitivity after teeth whitening. Here’s why:

  1. Chemical Reaction: The bleaching agents used in whitening treatments can penetrate the enamel and dentin layers of your teeth. This process can temporarily increase tooth sensitivity.

  2. Dehydration: During the whitening process, teeth can become dehydrated. Dehydration exposes nerve endings, leading to sensitivity.

  3. Open Tubules: Whitening can open microscopic tubules in the dentin, allowing stimuli (such as hot or cold foods) to reach the nerves more easily.

  4. Individual Variability: Sensitivity varies from person to person. Some experience it more than others.

To minimize sensitivity:

  • Use a desensitizing toothpaste.

  • Avoid very hot or cold foods immediately after whitening.

  • Follow post-whitening care instructions provided by your dentist.

However, this effect is usually short-lived, lasting only a few hours or a couple of days.

What causes teeth to turn yellow?

Teeth discoloration can stem from various factors such as genetic predisposition, environmental conditions, and specific medications. However, the predominant cause of discoloration is the accumulation of surface stains on the enamel. Regular consumption of food, beverages, and lifestyle habits contribute to the formation of these stains. As time progresses, these stains penetrate the enamel layer and reach the underlying dentin, leading to darker shades. This occurs because enamel is translucent, and the staining of the dentin layer affects the overall appearance of the tooth.

How much does teeth whitening cost ?

At Reneu Smiles, we frequently receive inquiries regarding the cost of professional teeth whitening. We are pleased to offer our clients affordable yet high-quality teeth whitening solutions that are flexible and customizable.

It's important to bear in mind that not all teeth whitening treatments are created equal. Some providers may be using carbamide peroxide instead of hydrogen peroxide.  Hydrogen peroxide breaks down faster than carbamide peroxide, so it releases most of its whitening power within 30–60 minutes. Carbamide peroxide, on the other hand, releases about 50% of its whitening power in the first two hours and can remain active for up to six additional hours. In other words, Carbamide peroxide is not a good option for in-chair whitening.

To ensure that our pricing is transparent and straightforward, we have simplified our teeth whitening pricing structure. Our approach is based on utilizing the appropriate quantities and techniques that deliver desirable results while maintaining the health and safety of our clients.
